WE for Gender Equality: Building a More Inclusive Society not only for men and women, but for all.

This years theme, "WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society," invites us to consider the collective effort needed to break down the barriers that limit people based on their gender. It’s not just about empowering women, but empowering everyone to participate equally in all aspects of life. Womens month, is a month dedicated to uncover womens strengths, resilience, and achievements. More importantly, it is a month that is dedicated to reflect, on how to include inclusivity regardles of their gender.

Gender equality is a term that sounds big and important, but to me, it’s really quite simple. It’s about ensuring everyone, regardless of their gender, has the same opportunities, respect, and rights. It’s like making sure everyone at a party gets the same chance at the last slice of pizza, no one should be left out just because of their gender. Whether you're a girl, boy, homosexual, heterosexual, transgender or anywhere in between, we all deserve to be treated fairly and equally. When it comes to gender equality, I’ve seen a lot of inequality around me. There are moments where people assume that girls are better at cooking and cleaning or at home while boys should be the ones carrying heavy bags, supporting their family or fixing things around the house. Teachers sometimes expect girls to be more creative, while boys are expected to excel at math. These small biases are everywhere, and they shape the way we think about each other. A perfect example of this happens in school projects. It’s

easy to notice how leadership roles in group tasks often go to boys, while girls are typically assigned roles like taking notes or organizing the group’s efforts. There’s nothing wrong with being the note-taker, but why should that always fall on girls? It’s a pattern that limits what everyone can do and prevents us from growing as a community. Gender equality isn’t just about helping one gender. Tt benefits everyone. Imagine a world where we stop restricting what people can do based on whether they’re a boy or a girl. What if girls could be mechanics and boys could be nurses? It would open up so many opportunities for everyone to explore what they truly want to do, without being held back by outdated stereotypes. By giving everyone a fair chance, regardless of their gender, we all get stronger and more diverse in everything we do.

So, what can we do to help? It’s easier than we think. We don’t need to be activists out on the streets to make a change. We can start small. First, we can call out unfairness when we see it. If someone is being treated differently because of their gender, speak up about it, politely and respectfully. Second, we can break stereotypes by pursuing careers and hobbies that make us happy, even if they go against traditional gender roles. Lastly, respecting others’ choices and supporting their dreams is one of the simplest ways to promote gender equality. If we all try to create a world where everyone is treated equally, regardless of gender, the possibilities are endless. After all, a world with no limitations based on gender is a world where everyone can thrive.
